Amid speculations and rumors, Huawei is working in the background to develop its own chipset and bring it to the smartphone but before that, the tech company is conducting a lot of testing at home.

According to the information, Huawei is testing a new and its self-developed chipset behind closed doors. However, told a tipster related to the matter but has not confirmed what this chipset is or when will it be used, or its process node technology.

These are massive developments and people in the tech industry would like to know more about the outcome of this scenario.

Kirin:

Huawei cannot print new chipsets, which is a big issue for Huawei. Therefore, its smartphone yield has declined severely over the past two years. As Kirin 9000 was the last flagship chip that was used in various models and it was very powerful.

The Kirin series has been a core of HiliSilicon R&D and created a separate space for Huawei in the mobile application processor segment. Even after hitting hard by the U.S. sanctions, HiSilicon has not stopped researching new chipset designs.

Road ahead:

A past report suggests that Huawei is cooperating closely with the Chinese semiconductor industry and partners to make chipsets on its own. Meanwhile, it’s a big challenge because chipset precision technologies are hard to achieve and such a field is dominated by companies from U.S., Netherlands, and Japan.

Huawei wants to grab a slot into the chipset market as an independent player but the Chinese tech maker is likely to play a key role in the development of China’s semiconductor industry.

For starters, Huawei could begin the chipset manufacturing journey with low-end nodes in the making. But we can’t figure out what Huawei is planning with such a chipset that is hidden.

Still, Huawei may have been testing a new chipset, which is exciting but the end result of this achievement is yet to be known in the public. But we’ll keep you posted.
