Huawei initiates first HarmonyOS January 2023 security update

Huawei already released January 2023 security patch details and now the company began to send the first of this security update for HarmonyOS smartphones including the Mate 40 series.

The first January 2023 HarmonyOS security update is rolling out for Mate 40 series with HarmonyOS 3 version 3.0.0.200. For your information, this update comes in two packages. The first package has a security patch and the second package includes improvements for the MMS feature.

According to the information, this software update is released in batches and may take some time to reach all of the Huawei Mate 40 series models. The security bulletin reveals that the January 2023 Huawei security patch fixes 2 CVEs in the kernel, four CVEs in the system, 1 CVE in the application, and 1 in the framework level.

Last month, Huawei rolled out a new HarmonyOS 3.0.0.192 for HarmonyOS 3 smartphones that brought in new Turbo charge mode, display improvements, app optimizations, and December 2022 HarmonyOS security patch.

Huawei Mate 40 series users can download the latest firmware by visiting  Settings > System & updates and then tapping on a Software update to proceed with the CHECK FOR UPDATES button. The phone will then connect to the firmware version and fetch back the update response.
