Huawei hopes sales boost in 2025 5G network market despite UK limitations

Amid the UK and US restrictions, Huawei is still hoping for a sales boost in the 2025 5G network market. Though the company foresees a downward trend for this year, the board of directors suggests remaining profitable with new sales growth.

Yahoo Finance reported the Reading-headquartered business isn’t seeing positive growth for Huawei this year. Yet, it will remain profitable in the 5G network market.

The story began in 2019, when the UK government decided to throw out the Chinese OEM over security concerns. It even instructed native telecoms to remove and replace Huawei 5G equipment completely by the end of 2027.

Since 2019, Huawei has seen a decline in the 5G market revenue every year due to the UK restrictions. For instance, the company earned £188.2 million in 2024 – down from £229.6 million in 2023. This also affected the firm’s pre-tax profit.

But looks like Huawei is quite optimistic about its 5G network sales in 2025 despite facing constant challenges from the UK. The company’s board of directors has reportedly said to focus on products that are free from the UK and US regulations.

Huawei further mentioned that the firm has effectively laid out its financial goals for 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, alongside analyzing both risks and opportunities in the telecom segments amid the challenging scenarios. It says:

“Although the business scale is expected to decline as a result of this external environment, the directors believe the company is well-positioned to continue its sales and profitability in 2025.”

The company says that it has also placed US and UK restrictions on its business, in the predicted plan and will take steps accordingly. But for now, at least, it is expecting that consumer business sales and other segments will support the 5G segment.

Even though the sales revenue in 2025 for the 5G network market could be lower than the 2024 level, it is currently positive for the overall sales.

Huawei added:

“However, the company is confident that it will continue to execute its business plan, underpinned by the underlying technical, operating, and financial strength of the company and the group, and it will remain profitable.”
