Huawei, Honor (Android) phones facing Instagram battery bug, fix is coming

Google has recently confirmed that Instagram is taking away extra battery power from your phones, be it a Huawei device or an Android. No worries, as a fix related to this case is on the way. All you have to do is update the Instagram app to new version.
Android Help Community shows a new advisory entitled “Battery drain on Android devices”. The community moderator via Google confirms that many Android smartphones have been facing battery draining while using the Instagram app.
Some users even reported that they were dealing with heavy battery drain problems without watching reels for hours. The comments reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S24 models and Pixel devices from the 6 to 9 series were affected by the case.
Global Huawei phones run Android-based EMUI versions. While these devices are away from GMS benefits, many users install apps like Instagram via sideloading methods or unofficial techniques.
Thus, even Huawei users aren’t safe in this matter. A similar problem can appear in Honor devices pre-installed with the Android-based MagicOS software systems.
Galaxy A52 user mentioned that Instagram has eaten 12.4% of his phone’s battery in 54 minutes of screen time. But looks like Meta addressed the battery issue and released a quick fix update for Instagram to help Android phones.
Google Support Page says:
“Starting today, Instagram is rolling out an updated app that should fix a battery drain issue on Android devices. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Instagram app (build: 382.0.0.49.84) to resolve this issue.”
Instagram is a Meta-owned app. While the app offers the best social life to its users with interesting reels, options for posting, sharing stories, and more, a minor bug in the application can lead to battery draining and device freezing issues.
We recommend keeping your phone’s system and third-party apps up-to-date with their latest versions every time to maintain distance from such nasty problems.
