At Huawei Developer Conference 2019, Huawei officially introduced its long-awaited operating system – HarmonyOS AKA Hongmeng OS and the company has said that it doesn’t have a plan to launch it on a smartphone at the moment.

HarmonyOS/Hongmeng OS: Here’s everything you need to know about this new Operating System

Huawei Senio Vice President Vincent Yang at a media event in New York on Wednesday, said Huawei want to keep using Google’s ecosystem and Android OS for its smartphones. Also, the company has no plans to switch on a HarmonyOS powered smartphone, reported Cnet.

“We want to maintain one standard, one ecosystem,” Yang said, adding that Harmony would serve as an option B for the company.

Although, this is a statement that we’ve heard quite a time now but we believe just like before that the company has already designed HarmanyOS for smartphones and testing it behind the closed door. Also, previous reports hinted that this platform will make its debut in a smartphone later this year, which is yet to announced by the company.

Yang said if the company was forced to leave Android, Huawei would switch to HarmonyOS on its phones but it’ll only happen on the very last moment of when the company feels that it must have to move on from Android.

Moreover, Yang confirmed that there’s a smartwatch powered by HarmonyOS is coming later this year. As we could expect it to be shown at the launch stage of Mate 30 series.

On August 10, this HarmonyOS has made its debut on Honor’s Smart Vision TV series and will also be seen in the Huawei Smart Vision TV’s in September.
