Huawei smartphone launches this year

A senior Huawei official recently revealed that the company has many new and incredible smartphone launches this year. After the Pura X foldable, the tech giant is seemingly readying some more interesting devices for its customers.

Huawei Consumer Business Group Chairman Richard Yu hosted a small talk with popular actors Huang Bo and Ma Dong. Both artists were guests in the HarmonyOS Smart Living Room set at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show.

The three men talked about various topics, including smart cars, AITO M9, the newly launched Pura X folding phone, and the upcoming ‘unimaginable’ devices.

During the interrogation, Ma Dong asked what the next-gen smartphones will look like. Richard answered that Huawei aims to lead in innovation and hints at extraordinary smartphone launches for this year, that no one can think of.

“… I have always encouraged our team to date to make products that lead innovation, dare to make products that others can’t think of, and even think of products that cannot be done or dare not to think of.”

New-gen tri-fold phone is coming?

Huang Bo shifted the direction of this discussion towards the next-gen tri-foldable device. He asked if there would be a 2nd-generation of the tri-fold in the future.

Instead of revealing any details or talking directly about the new-gen tri-foldable phone, the Chairman continued to keep its development a secret and said:

“We have more products beyond your imagination.”

Huawei senior official tried to avoid the details on the next-gen tri-fold smartphone. But his statement suggests that the company has many new ‘incredible’ smartphones in the pipeline and may unveil them one by one in the coming months.

After Pura X, the Pura 80 series seems to be the next in the launch queue. We could also witness the Nova 14 series release ahead of the flagship lineup.

Early rumors said that Huawei has currently halted the second-generation tri-fold phone making at present. The device is expected to go official as early as mid-2026. This could be the reason for the senior official hesitating to speak on this matter.

Huawei surprised everyone in September last year by unveiling the world’s first triple foldable handset – Mate XT. Its unique mechanism and robust design made it surpass 3 million reservations within a few weeks. What changes the 2nd-gen model brings to the surface would be worth looking at.
