Huawei grew 36% YoY in 2024 Chinese smartphone market: Counterpoint

Huawei has reached new heights in the 2024 Chinese smartphone race with 36% YoY growth. The tech giant is regaining its share in the consumer market with innovative products and giving strong competition to both Chinese and foreign rivals.
Counterpoint recently released a new report on the 2024 Chinese smartphone market. The latest analysis reveals the region’s overall sales performance last year.
As per the details, the Chinese smartphone market sales grew by 1.5% YoY in 2024. However, the market experienced unbalanced growth throughout the year. It showed a lower-than-expected performance at the outset and end of the year.
On the flip side, the mid-period remained quite strong for the Chinese phone market in 2024. The graph chart given below reflects how the smartphone sales performance in China for last year, based on per week.

Apart from the overall market, Counterpoint has also revealed tech vendors’ performance. Huawei secured 36% year-on-year growth in the 2024 Chinese smartphone market. The company is standing at the top with the highest market share.
Thanks to innovative devices like the Pura 70, Nova 13, and Mate 70. The OEM not only performed well in the premium phone category but also scored excellent grades in the mid-range phone race due to the Nova 13 and Nova Flip models.
Xiaomi appeared in the second spot with a 10% YoY growth rate while Vivo is in third place with a 6% YoY progress. Brands like Apple, OPPO, and Honor saw a downfall in the 2024 Chinese smartphone battle. The iPhone maker slipped to 13% due to fierce competition by Huawei and Xiaomi flagship handsets.
At the same time, OPPO and Honor faced a drop of 9% and 3% year-on-year respectively. There are chance that both companies will get back on track this year.
Counterpoint further states that the Chinese smartphone market will gain new growth in 2025, and Huawei may continue to lead with innovative products this year.
