Huawei global smartphone shipment grew 28% YoY in first quarter of 2025

Huawei has not only made a good smartphone shipment score in China but also the global market with a growth of 28% YoY. A new report reveals the overall handset delivery worldwide in the first quarter of this year for the top tech vendors.

TechInsights has now published the Q1 2025 global smartphone shipment report. It has grown by 0.5% year-on-year and shipped 296.8 million handset units. The top five rankers in the latest listing are Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo.

Even though Huawei didn’t make its way to the top five positions, it ranked eighth with an increase of 28% YoY in the global smartphone shipment race, over previous quarters.

According to TechInsights, Huawei has performed significantly in the global smartphone shipment category and obtained eighth place in the first quarter of this year.

Perhaps the new foldables, Nova 13, and Pura 70 handsets are the credit holders. While the folding phone would have amazed users with its performance improvements, the mid-ranger and Pura 70 grabbed attention for their camera capabilities.

Apart from the global shipments, the report highlights that Huawei’s phone shipments grew by 31% year-on-year in the Chinese market. The company has captured the first spot and topped the segment after a long time, since 2021.

Xiaomi follows in third place. The company has shipped 41.9 million phones in the first quarter of this year and achieved an 18.4% market share. OPPO and vivo appear at the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Transsion comes sixth while Honor has achieved the seventh rank. Inputs add that a healthy smartphone demand in China has mainly driven the recovery of the global smartphone shipment market.
