After being green flagged by the UK, now Italy has come forward and confirmed that the Chinese telecom giant Huawei can do its 5G business without any hesitations.

UK clears the path for Huawei to play its role in 5G network development

According to Reuters, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on Friday he had given his words to Huawei that it would not face any discrimination in the rollout of 5G network across Italy.

Conte also mentioned his visit to China where he said he met Huawei’s chief executive, Ren Zhengfei. The prime minister’s comments were carried in Italy by TV broadcaster Sky Italia.

“I told him that we have adopted some precautions, some measures to protect our interests that demand very high levels of security … not only from Huawei but any company entering into the 5G arena,” he said.

International observers said that this is definitely related to the Chinese belt and road initiative that’s recently inherited by Italy and took the decision in the pressure of improving ties with Beijing.

Huawei, the world’s biggest network equipment provider, is under the eyes of the US’ secret intelligence, which has also told its allies not to purchase any of the technology from Huawei due to the allegation that the company could spy through its technologies but the telecom giant has always denied that its equipment doesn’t pose any threat to anyone.
