Huawei expects to exceed 10 billion yuan in 5G R&D this year

Huawei has already started to deliver its 5G products in several countries which have been used to kick off their first ever 5G services but to keep growing the company has decided to put more investment in the 5G field.

After the 5G certification distribution to telecoms in China, Huawei said it completely supports China’s 5G network development and announced that its 5G R&D investment will exceed 10 billion Yuan in 2019.

Huawei noted that the company has started 5G research in 2009, since then the company invested more than $2 billion in research and development. Currently, it has the 5G development capability from chip to system networking products, which makes it the top network equipment maker that can provide the end-to-end 5G commercial solution.

As of June 2019, Huawei has won 46 commercial 5G contracts globally, and has launched a series of cross-industry collaborations based on network slicing and MEC in smart grid, VR/AR, IoV, remote surgery, smart manufacturing, and other fields, announced Huawei.
