Huawei has made its space in the top 5 2024 U.S. patent ranking. The OEM achieved fifth rank under the foreign patent listing for its innovative and significant technologies. Tech vendors like Samsung and TSMC also gained a spot in this listing.

IFI Claims Patent Services released the top 50 U.S. Patent Assignees of 2024 and Huawei secured fifth place in this ranking. The first spot is taken by Samsung.

The new listing reveals the most innovative companies of 2024 within the U.S. intellectual property space. It highlights the top industry competitors that are actively inventing and investing in the new technology battleground.

Speaking of the achievements, Huawei issued around 3046 patents last year. It’s a significant increase compared to 2023 when it applied for 2068 patents in the US.

The Chinese OEM rose from six places to claim the fifth position. It increased its patents grant by 47% YoY, which helped to achieve a spot in the top 5 listing.

Other top 5 rankers in the top 5 2024 U.S. patent listing counts Samsung, TSMC, Qualcomm, and Apple. The South Korean company achieved first spot with 6377 patent applications. The tech maker leads the sector for its innovative techs.

TSMC has ranked second with 3989 patent applications and an increase of 8.19% YoY. Qualcomm has slid down from the second rank to third with 3422 patent applications. Finally, Apple rose three places and achieved the fourth spot.

IFI Claims CEO – Ronald Kartz says:

“Despite all the market’s attention on AI, we saw technologies like machine learning – which underpins artificial intelligence – slope downward. But we’re not surprised by that. Those were the fast growers that preceded the present AI bonanza and have been on our list in the years leading up to it. It’s good to see patent grants heading in the right direction again.”
