Huawei Enjoy 10, Z, 10e and Maimang 9 smartphones collecting May 2021 security update

Huawei has started sending a new software update for a bunch of China-exclusive devices including Huawei Maimang 9, Enjoy Z, Enjoy 10 Plus, and Enjoy 10e smartphones.

According to the information, Huawei has pushed the May 2021 security patch for the above-mentioned devices that fixes different levels of exploits and issues for improved system security.

Additionally, the security patch also resolves the hidden privacy issues found in the last security patch because of the harm it can make to users’ data.

EMUI Version:

Huawei Maimang 9 smartphone owners receiving EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.1.210, while the Enjoy Z grabbing EMUI 10.1.1.214 version. On the other hand, Huawei Enjoy 10e and Enjoy 10 Plus users getting EMUI version 10.1.0.187 and 10.1.0.189 respectively.

HarmonyOS 2.0 status for these devices:

Huawei Maimang 9 and Enjoy Z smartphones were part of the most anticipated HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta testing program, which was started on June 2. Since then, the company is delivering beta builds via OTA upgrades.

According to the HarmonyOS 2.0 official rollout plan, Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus users will be able to experience the whole new HM OS in the first half of 2022 or maybe earlier.

On the other hand, the company has already moved forward in HarmonyOS 2 beta journey and begun public beta activity for some selected devices. Recently, it announced the first HarmonyOS stable update for the top 18 Huawei devices.

May 2021 security patch details: This security update fixes different levels of exploits and issues including  3 critical, 10 high, and 4 medium levels of CVE for improved system security.

Update Note:

  • The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  • EMUI version and size may vary.
  • Maintain enough battery and storage on your device.

HOW TO CHECK FOR UPDATE:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

You can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
