Huawei developing first 1-inch CMOS camera sensor for Pura 80: Rumor
Wild rumor suggests Huawei is working on a self-developed 1-inch CMOS camera sensor for Pura 80. If true, it would be the first time that the company is developing its own image sensor. The creation may result in a new photography experience.
Huawei has promised to unveil ‘beyond imagination’ techs and devices this year. It seems the rumored camera sensor is part of these extraordinary products.
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation reveals that Huawei may launch its first 1-inch CMOS main camera sensor this year, probably for the flagship Pura 80 lineup.
The leak adds the company hasn’t collaborated with OmniVision but with a different lens manufacturer. The new camera sensor is further expected to contain multiple self-developed technologies. It may take the photography to the next level.
CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor)-based camera sensors use less power than other sensors like CCD. They are more efficient for battery-operated devices. Being highly sensitive, these sensors are perfect for low-light scenarios.
Another benefit of the sensor is that it reduces noise in the image and hikes high dynamic range to capture more light in a shot. Thus, you get beautiful results.
It is unclear what technologies Huawei will use in its alleged camera sensor. Though being the first self-developed imaging lens, it may bring better experiences.
Following the leak, many netizens said that the company will likely use its first self-developed camera sensor for the Pura 80 Ultra. Huawei hasn’t announced any such details yet. Hence, it is better to take this input with a grain of salt at the moment.
Apart from the CMOS main camera sensor, the tipster also revealed that the company is also using a self-developed periscope lens for the next-gen Pura lineup. Perhaps, it could be the largest periscope camera sensor in the industry.
