Huawei dethrones Samsung as global foldable leader in Q4 2024

Huawei has once again dethroned Samsung from the global foldable market for Q4 2024. The Chinese tech giant has topped the folding phone race with whopping market share scores and pushed the South Korean company to second place.
TechInsights shared its latest analysis on the global foldable market for the fourth quarter of 2024. Interestingly, the results are quite surprising this time.
According to the report, Samsung has lost its lead in the book-type foldable phones to Huawei. The company achieved 26.7% of the market share and ranked second.
Meanwhile, Huawei is at the top with 31.2% market share. The phone maker is leading the Asia-Pacific market with a 42.5% share and overtook vivo and Xiaomi.
Compared to 2023, Huawei’s performance has dropped by 24.7% in the book-type foldable market. Although it has achieved huge support in the clamshell foldable. It earned a 23.4% share in flip foldable – thanks to Pocket 2 and Nova Flip.
Samsung’s foldable leadership seemed to be in danger since the beginning of 2024. It achieved second spot in Q1 2024, losing the foldable crown to Huawei.
Following tech-pack launches, Huawei has surpassed Samsung in the global foldable market for Q4 2024.
Huawei has now introduced Mate XT tri-fold globally ahead of Samsung. It suggests a new battle in the global foldable field. Despite the lack of certain key factors, the device may perform well in the overseas market.
Apart from Huawei and Samsung, Honor has performed efficiently in the global foldable market and gained 14.3%. Both Xiaomi and Honor are newbies in the Flip foldable market but achieved good scores – 9.2% and 6.2%, respectively.
Motorola is in the fourth position with a 9% share. In terms of booklet folding phones, Vivo has ranked fourth with a 13.4% market share for its X Fold 3/Pro. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is in fifth spot with 2.4% share.
