Huawei has recently denied a report that claims that the company OEM LiDAR camera sensor from Sagitar Junchung, a Chinese LiDAR maker. The Chinese tech maker said that the entire story is not true as it owns a separate LiDAR production line.

According to a report from Chinese media, Sagitar Juchuang is developing a production line special for Huawei’s smart car solutions. The report quoted that in 2021, Huawei has searched almost all the lidars to discuss OEM matters, and finally Sgitar Juchunang was selected as the OEM partner.

However, later due to the unsatisfactory results from Sagitar, Huawei refused to continue OEM LiDAR with the company.

the entire story has been rebutted a Huawei personnel saying it’s complete nonsense. The personal reminded that Huawei has its own LiDAR factory that produces Huawei’s own products.

Currently, these LiDAR products have been underused in different cars including the ones that use Huawei’s smart car solutions. ARCFOX and Huawei collaborative model is a great example of this solution.

LiDAR:

Lidar stands for light detection and ranging, and has been around for a while. It uses lasers to ping off objects and returns to the source of the laser, measuring distance by timing the travel, or flight, of the light pulse.
