Huawei defeats Apple in Q4 2024 new Chinese phone activations ranking

Huawei wins the new Chinese phone activations ranking for Q4 2024 over Xiaomi and Apple. The company defeated many rivals in this race and held a huge market share. It seems the newly launched Mate models are selling well in China.

An anonymous research firm released the data of new Chinese phone activations in Q4 2024 and Huawei has topped this ranking. The company has left Xiaomi, Apple, and Honor behind in this competition and achieved the first spot.

Inputs reveal that new Huawei phones activated in the Chinese smartphone market are 13.0878 million units. The tech giant occupied 18.04% of the market share in the fourth quarter of 2024 – thanks to the most powerful Mate handsets.

Mate 70 smartphones and the Mate X6 foldable debuted in November 2024 in China. Both flagship lineups pack top-end hardware capabilities, amazing AI features, native HarmonyOS, and of course, a brand-new Kirin 9020 5G processor.

All these traits exceeded the demand for new Mate models in the Chinese market and resulted in fruitful sales. The OEM has unveiled the Mate X6 for global consumers. Though the worldwide viewers are now expecting to see the Mate 70 series.

Other Rankers…

Xiaomi stands next in the ranking with 12.43 million new phone activations. It has obtained a market share of 17.14%. Meanwhile, Apple has grabbed the third spot with 12.41 million smartphone activations and owns 17.11% of the market share.

The iPhone maker is also seeing a decline of 17.3% year-on-year. And the reason is heavy competition in the Chinese market. More consumers are now supporting Chinese companies like Huawei, Honor, and Xiaomi for their AI phones.

Vivo is in fourth place while Honor has ranked fifth. The ranking highlights Huawei’s influence in the Chinese market after the Mate 70 series launch. It seems the new lineup will exceed around 10 million units before the release of Mate 80.
