Huawei continues to rule Chinese tablet market in Q1 2025, defeating Apple

Canalys has released its latest analysis on the Chinese tablet market for Q1 2025, where Huawei has secured the first rank. Just like past quarters, the OEM continued to rule the large-screen device segment in the first three months of this year.
As per the report, Huawei has shipped 2.3 million MatePad products in the Q1 2025 Chinese tablet market. Even though the company’s market share is less than last year’s analysis (same period), the overall growth has jumped to 7% year-on-year.
Huawei has scored 26% market share in the latest tablet ranking. It has topped many competitors on the list, like the iPad maker, Xiaomi, Honor, and Lenovo.
Apple has achieved the second position in the Q1 2025 Chinese tablet race with 2.1 million shipments and 24% of the market share. Just like Huawei, the company grew by 7% despite constant challenges from the Chinese brands.
Xiaomi ranked third with 1.4 million tablet sales and 16% market share. It is the only company at present with the highest annual growth rate of 57% YoY in the first quarter of the Chinese tablet ranking. On the other hand, Honor sold around 0.9 million MagicPad tablets and achieved 41% growth year-on-year with a 10% market share.

Lenovo grabbed the fifth spot with 0.5% but a decline rate of 23% year-on-year. It owns 6% of the market due to the effective sales of its budget-friendly tablets!
Emma Xu – the Senior Analyst at Canalys, said that the Chinese tablet market performance in the first quarter of this year is mainly driven by government subsidies.
Many brands have started expanding their tablet lineup, focusing on robust gaming as well as enhanced productivity. Meanwhile, companies like Huawei and Honor continue to give a tough fight to foreign rivals on the home ground.
