Huawei is planning a global comeback amid the challenges of the U.S. ban and Kirin chips. The company is looking for gaps to reclaim the top position in the worldwide market with its innovative products, equipped with in-house processors.

Nikkei Asia reported that Huawei began increasing the number of markets in which it sells its products. This move can help it to return to the global smartphone sector.

The company launched several products globally in December last year. For instance, the flagship Mate X6 foldable, Nova 13 series, FreeBuds Pro 4, and more.

All these devices were open to many high-profile locations and cities such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, the Philippines, South Africa, and European markets.

Mate X6 seemed to be the major hype among these devices. While the tech giant frequently unveils new products globally, it launched the Mate X6 foldable worldwide after a gap of two years. The last foldable was the Huawei Mate X3.

Another reason for the Mate X6’s popularity in the overseas market is the powerful Kirin 9020 5G chip. No doubt, the processor lags behind its foreign rivals in terms of performance. Yet it is a far better version of the previous-gen Kirin SoCs.

The same strategy is applied to the Nova 13 series. The mid-range handsets run on the Kirin 8000 chipsets and bring multiple capabilities to boost user experience.

Kirin chips have always been a focal point in the “Huawei global comeback” topic due to the US ban. The Chinese OEM was doing well in the overseas market before the US sanctions. However, a tough bang pushed the firm to the ground.

Even though the company rose in 2023 with its Mate 60 series, it didn’t get a chance to make a comeback in the global market. Huawei did not launch the Mate 60 phones globally due to the tough restrictions. Meanwhile, chip production become a huge problem due to the lack of advanced chipmaking equipment.

Despite these problems, Huawei has now released the Kirin-powered Mate X6 globally. The Mate 70 series is currently missing from the platform but it may debut globally later this year alongside the MatePad Pro 13.2 2025 tablet.

These points eventually hint that Huawei is considering a comeback in the global smartphone market with its self-developed and gradually improving Kirin chips.
