Huawei Cloud will bring DeepSeek R1 services to end users: Report

Huawei Cloud is trying to bring DeepSeek R1 services to end users. The OEM recently teamed up with a Chinese AI startup to make the model available to consumers. The new cooperation will launch better and more affordable AI services.
DeepSeek R1 and V3 are powerful AI models. The former is a reasoning model while the latter is a typical LLM (large language model). Both have become major attention in the Chinese as well as US AI market for their tech-pack characteristics.
The R1 AI model runs on the Ascend 910C chips. Now Huawei is planning to bring the DeepSeek R1 services to end users with the help of its Cloud unit.
As per a report, the Chinese tech giant has partnered with SiliconFlow to make new DeepSeek models available to consumers via Ascend Cloud service. The Ascend solution will evaluate resources including various hardware techs, self-developed clusters, AI modules, and accelerator cards of Huawei Cloud unit.
SiliconFlow is a Chinese AI startup based in Beijing. It focuses on developing high-performance and cost-effective solutions for large-scale AI model inference.
The AI startup mentioned that the price to access V3 is 1 yuan ($0.13) for one million input tokens and 2 yuan for one million output tokens. On the flip side, the fees for the R1 model are 4 yuan and 16 yuan for input and output tokens respectively.
One of the official SiliconFlow websites reads:
“Based on Huawei Cloud Ascend Cloud Service, we launched the DeepSeek x SiliconFlow x Huawei Cloud R1 and V3 model inference service for the first time.”
Huawei Cloud-based DeepSeek R1 and V3 models: Features
- DeepSeek models launched via SiliconFlow and Huawei Ascend Cloud can obtain the same effect as the global high-end GPU variants.
- Offers a stable large-scale production environment to developers and helps them meet business commercial deployment needs. Huawei Ascend Cloud service brings powerful, elastic, and sufficient computing power.
- Enables developers to focus more on application development. They can directly call SiliconCloud API for a relaxed and easy-to-understand experience.
Last week, Microsoft and Amazon brought R1 support on their respective cloud platforms like Azure and GitHub. The aim is to enable clients and other developers to build AI apps with powerful and cost-effective services. Now Huawei has opted for the same step for its end users.
