Huawei Celia Assistant gets Native HarmonyOS support

Huawei Celia voice assistant is getting native HarmonyOS support with the recent version upgrade to 11.2.10.310 bringing a more customized user experience to devices.

The company has released this new app version with 99MB of package size and it has improved some features including press and talk.

Huawei says this capability will enable more natural conversation for users. It appears to be utilizing the new large language model (LLM) in devices such as the Mate 70 series. However, it wasn’t confirmed in the changelog.

The Chinese tech maker has been researching AI for a long time and its smartphones are no exception. However, the chip ban has led to a major halt in improving the mobile chipset’s progress toward on-device AI.

Despite these challenges, the company has found a way to produce new Kirin chips with upgraded NPUs. Still, the capacity to house LLM and datasets is unknown. Mate 70 has the latest Kirin chipset accounts for the new LLM to run advanced Celia assistant.

Some other features from this native Celia assistant for HarmonyOS include the Chinese Spring Festival photo gallery. Users can also upload pictures to find similar images online.

The new version has two major changes including the chat and discovery tabs, utilizing the AI power. A user can ask for various in both local and English. It supports system app integration to conduct any task at the user’s request.

The new Huawei Celia assistant app is now available for Chinese Huawei users with native HarmonyOS NEXT devices.
