Huawei Chinese foldable Q1 2025

Huawei is maintaining a strong hold in the Chinese foldable phone market, and this grip is becoming stronger in Q1 2025. As per IDC’s latest report, the company began leading the folding handset segment starting the first quarter of this year.

Innovation reaches its peak when we talk about Huawei’s foldable phones. Whether it’s the book-type model or the flip-flop handset. These devices not only surprise users with their design but also impress them with software and internal features.

According to a new IDC report, Huawei holds 76.6% of the Q1 2025 Chinese foldable race. This is the highest market share in China’s folding phone segment at present.

The report states that Huawei’s current market share in the Chinese folding segment has surpassed the company’s three-quarters of share, thanks to innovative devices.

Last year, Huawei unveiled four ultimate folding phones. First is Pocket 2 with a quad-camera setup and satellite features. The second is Nova Flip, which significantly grabbed attention in the mid-range segment. On the other hand, the Mate X6 becomes an eye-catching device with a new Kirin 5G chip.

And let’s not forget – the Mate XT tri-fold continues to be a subject of hot discussion among both consumers and competitors. Its tri-folding method even shadowed the presence of the AI-less Apple iPhone 16 series in China.

Now, the company has launched the Pura X foldable phone with a new and super-interesting form factor. The mini device with a 16:10 wide screen is similar to the iPad mini and further capable of challenging both fold and flip folding handsets.

Honor ranked second in this report with 9.1% of the market share. OPPO is in third place with 7.1% market share, while Xiaomi and Samsung received fourth (2.6%) and fifth (2.4%) positions, respectively.

After the Pura X, whether the company will see a new rise in the Q2 2025 Chinese foldable market, or continue to lead with the same figure, would be worth looking at.

The report also reveals that the Chinese foldable market has made 2.84 million shipments in the first quarter of this year. It’s an overall increase of 53.1%.
