Huawei can upgrade Kirin 5G performance for Pura 80

A new input suggests that the Huawei Pura 80 series may use a new Kirin 5G chip with upgraded performance. That contradicts previous leaks saying the upcoming flagship lineup will adopt the same Kirin 9020 as the Mate 70 smartphones.

Huawei devices often become a mystery material when it comes to their SoC and Pura 80 is no exception in this theory. But a new leak shed some light on this matter.

SmartPikachu says that all Huawei Pura 80 models will pack a new Kirin 5G chip with improved performance. The phone maker could introduce a better SoC in the second quarter of this year, instead of using the same Kirin 9020 for its new flagship.

Kirin chip had a challenging journey in the past few years. Due to the US ban, Huawei grounded its self-developed chip and relied upon others. But in 2023, the company took a major step with the Mate 60 series and revived the Kirin light.

Hereafter, the Chinese OEM continued to unveil new Kirin chipsets and their derivatives for its devices. The Kirin shelf has 9000s, 9010, and 9020 SoCs to date. However, we can expect a new member of this family with the Pura 80 smartphone.

An early leak suggested that future flagship phones will bring Kirin chipsets named 9030, 9040, and more. We may find one of these with the new Pura handsets.

The leak further reveals that Huawei Pura 80 devices will bring enhanced satellite features and larger batteries than the previous-gen models. In terms of cells, the lineup could pack a 6000mAh or even higher-density battery to offer more durability.

Huawei hasn’t confirmed any of these details yet. Although the company has said to unlock new miracles this year. Hence, we can expect better changes with the Pura 80 smartphones. We will keep you posted with the latest inputs on this matter.
