Huawei could boost the production of its foldable PC by 200000 units. A new report hints that the company has significant shipment plans for the iconic notebook with a surprising form factor. Though a global debut of this device is doubtful.

The Chinese tech giant has launched its first folding screen PC, MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. It eliminates the use of a physical keyboard and has the power of HarmonyOS PC, delivering dynamic AI features and smart capabilities.

Ming-Chi Kuo, the well-known tech analyst, said that the production target of the Huawei foldable PC can be nearly 180000 to 200000 units. That’s a significant figure.

The number of production hints that the device won’t make a global debut. But Huawei may change its plan last minute, unveiling the foldable PC globally later this year.

Ming adds that the final sales performance, product lifecycle, and whether the company will launch a second-gen folding PC next year will highly depend on the user feedback, particularly in terms of software experience.

Huawei is slightly late to enter the “foldable PC” era. Brands like Lenovo and Asus launched folding laptops a couple of years ago as the ThinkPad X1 Fold and ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, respectively. Yet, the Chinese OEM is still ahead due to innovation.

The tech analyst further revealed the key selling points of the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. He said that the display size, resolution, weight, and thickness are the attractive points of Huawei’s first foldable notebook.

Meanwhile, the device offers a larger, higher resolution display with a thinner and lighter form factor than its competitors. Perhaps the company could increase the production units for its new device based on the market needs in the future.
