Huawei beats Apple, Xiaomi in Q1 2025 Chinese tablet market race

IDC has shared a new report on the Chinese tablet market for Q1 2025, and Huawei has won the first spot in this listing. The company has accounted for one-third of the market share, giving tough competition to the iPad maker and Xiaomi.
According to the details, Huawei holds 34.5% of the Q1 2025 Chinese tablet market share. It is around 1/3rd of the entire market. The shares have declined compared to last year by 1.8% (36.2% in Q1 2024). Still, the OEM achieved the top place.
The report reveals that MatePad tablets launched last year have gained a lot of attention in the market. In particular, these three models have driven the firm’s growth:
- Huawei MatePad 11.5S
- Huawei MatePad Air 12
- Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2
On the flip side, the company’s MatePad tablet shipment has increased by 13.6% year-on-year. These Chinese subsidy plans further helped Huawei to grow in this segment.
Apple achieved the second position with 22.5% of the market share. Despite flagship iPad launches, the company’s progress graph has dropped by 2.0% year-on-year. But the good news is that iPad shipments rose by 10% YoY.

Xiaomi appeared in the third spot with a market share of 16.8%. The tech giant sold up to 56.8% YoY of tablets in the first quarter of this year. It has become the fastest-growing tablet brand in China for Q1 2025 – thanks to Tablet 7 series.
Honor ranked fourth with 8.9% of the market share. The company is seeing a slight growth in the progress card due to its cost-effective and super-thin MagicPad tablets.
Lenovo has grabbed the fifth spot. It has shipped around 45.7% year-on-year and accounts for 5.8% of the market share. Overall, the Chinese market has sold nearly 8.52 million units and gained a sharp jump of 19.5% YoY in shipment growth.
