Huawei announces Pocket 2 Premium Edition featuring distinct Kirin chip

Today, Huawei officially announced the Pocket 2 Premium Edition foldable phone. The company shared the information on its Weibo page, revealing the key highlights of the new variant. It also mentions the sale time for buying purposes.

Early leaks revealed that Pocket 2 vertical folding phone will soon get a Premium version. The company has now confirmed a new model for the respective lineup.

Looking at the official teaser, the device doesn’t show any major change in appearance. But the exact details may come out at the Pocket 2 Premium Edition’s sale event.

Huawei revealed that the Pocket 2 Premium Edition will go on sale on June 26 at 10:08. Consumers can purchase the device from authorized retail stores or at VMall. The company has also mentioned the price and storage details, which are:

• Pocket 2 Premium Edition (12GB + 256GB) – 5499 yuan
• Pocket 2 Premium Edition (12GB + 512GB) – 5999 yuan

The price is 2000 yuan less than the original Pocket 2 variant that starts at 7499 yuan. It will be available in four colors: Tahitian Grey, Rococo White, Taro Purple, and Elegant Black. Changes in parameters and specs will be known at the sale.

Previous leaks suggested that the Pocket 2 Premium Edition will use a new chipset, probably Kirin 9020A. It offers 35% improved performance than the Mate 60 Pro, powered by Kirin 9000s. Although an official input awaits on this matter.

Specifications

Huawei Pocket 2 runs on a Kirin 9000s processor. It features a 6.94-inch OLED main screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. It also has a 1.15-inch OLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and 120Hz touch response.

The foldable pre-installs HarmonyOS 4.0 and comes in three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. It has a quad-camera setup with a 50MP super-sensing primary camera (f/1.6 + OIS), a 12MP ultrawide shooter (f/2.2 aperture), an 8MP telephoto sensor, and a 2MP hyperspectral camera.

Pocket 2 has a 10.7MP ultrawide-angle camera on the front side (f/2.2). It has a 4520mAh battery with 66W charging and an IPX8 rating. The folding supports features like UV protection test, two-way Beidou satellite messaging, and cute pet themes.
