Huawei announces new-gen OceanStor Dorado 3000 storage solution with 1600 SSDs

Huawei has introduced a new-gen OceanStor Dorado 3000 converged storage solution. The latest technology comes with better features that can meet multiple business requirements at the same time, without compromising performance.

According to the information, the new-generation Huawei OceanStor Dorado 3000 storage solution contains 2TB of memory, 1600 solid-state drives, and 8 PiB (Pebibyte; 1PiB = 1024TB) capacity.

On the other hand, a single OceanStor Dorado 3000 converged solution can serve up to 16 controllers, thanks to innovative and advanced technologies.

Let’s take a look at these techs one by one.

Starting with performance, the new storage solutions run on DPU smart network cards. It supports data and control flow separation tech, where massive data directly connects to memory and hard disks.

This technology also overcomes the CPU bandwidth and computing network challenges. It integrates the FlashLink 3.0 algorithm to boost performance by 50% in SAN (Storage Area Networks) and 30% in NAS (Network Attached Storage).

Some other protocols on the support list include NVMe over Fabric protocol, NVMe over RoCE, FC NVMe, and NVMe over TCP.

The new tech promises industry-leading SAN&NAS&S3 integrated AA dual-active for a better experience of key services. Two data centers are eligible to offer services simultaneously with balanced service loads. The overall performance improvement is 25%.

Huawei has used native block, file, and object parallel architecture. It is a powerful framework that enables a single set of storage solutions to fulfill various business needs and lessen TCO (total cost of ownership) by 25%.
