Huawei’s Temporary General License has recently expired, this allowed the company to manage its existing customers in the U.S. alongside providing software updates for its smartphones.

So most of the users nowadays wondering, what will happen to them, will they continue to get the software updates for their phones or they’ll just have to stop using them? Well, we got something for ya.

Today Huawei confirmed to us that there is no impact on the existing devices. Therefore, Huawei and Honor phones that come with Google Play pre-installed will continue to receive software updates. Meanwhile, devices pre-equipped with HMS will receive the updates as well.

“Our customers can keep receiving software updates and services thanks to the strength of the open-source community and our own advanced R&D capabilities,” Said Huawei.

“For phones with Google Play installed out-of-the-box, all apps downloaded from Google Play and other Google apps will continue receiving updates. For phones that do not come with Google Play, new apps and updates can be managed through the pre-installed HUAWEI AppGallery,”

  • Honor 30 series

These devices not only launched in China but also in the global markets. What’s more surprising is that these phones continuously receiving security updates even without Google Play licensing or Google Mobile Services (GMS) apps.
