Update: Changan Automobile denied investing in automotive chips with Huawei

According to the latest headlines coming from the China Business News, Changan Auto answered about making chips with Huawei and said that the report was incorrect and misleading the people.

It means, both firms weren’t planning to make any investment in the investigation and development of in-vehicle chips. Meanwhile, Huawei already clarified that the matter related to making the public announcements will handle by the auto manufacture.

According to the latest news coming from Reuters, Huawei, and Changan Automobiles are jointly extending their business in the field of automotive chips. Both firms are working on the new design and the process to develop related products.

To be mentioned, Huawei and Changan Group are working together since last November and planning to explore the field of vehicle chips for the past few months.  As per the information revealed by some peoples related to this matter, both firms are expected to make a huge joint investment for the research and development of the automobile chip.

Furthermore, the related people also revealed that Huawei is assumed to handle the work for the vehicle chip operating systems and cabin technology. On the other hand, Changan Automobile will handle the design and engineering work.

Adding to this, Changan Automobile did not give any response to this topic, while Huawei made a hazy statement about it, saying that case of publicly declaring cooperation matters, the auto maker’s news will prevail.

On September 26th, a Chinese carmaker, BAIC officially announced the collaboration between Huawei and the BAIC New Energy brand. Both parties signed the strategic agreement to deepening their corporation and jointly built a co-brand with ArcFox and Huawei HI.

According to the reports, these two firms have signed a strategic agreement on January 28th in 2019. Now, the two parties have deepened their partnership and will work together in the future.

In this line, the Comprehensive Business Deepening Cooperation Agreement has been marked by Beijing New Energy and Huawei Technology on the 26th of September 2021. This agreement will cover all co-branded products from both companies.

During the Question and Answer session at Huawei Connect 2021 conference, Eric Xu, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman informed that Huawei is facing tough challenges from the sanctions imposed by the U.S. government.

However, Huawei will not give up on hope and continue to invest and make new products including the continued development of smartphones and consumer business, which has been hit so hard by the entire U.S. actions.

However, there’s one interesting thing that the chairman said regarding the ongoing development in the smart car solution that the company has achieved so far. Xu mentioned that some low-end Huawei smart car chips have been licensed in the United States, which mainly serves the purpose of the automotive business.
