Today, Honor announced that its upcoming big-screen phone – Honor X10 Max will come with a high brightness RGBW display to provide users better content visibility under outdoor light scenarios.

What is RGBW Color Screen?

With an RGBW screen, each row of 3 colored pixels is alternated with a white pixel. This means that 25% of the screen is made up of color but of white light.

In work, the RGBW technology maximizes the brightness by 70% compared to the RGB screen. This means the content on the screen will be clearly visible even under direct sunlight.

To achieve power efficiency, the RGBW screen can only turn on some white sub-pixels in normal light or indoor areas, to reduce the backlight effect, which directly affects the power consumption up to 14%.
