Honor will use higher camera pixel rather than high resolution (100MP) in 2020

Recently, some of the smartphone manufacturers have introduced their phones with high-resolution cameras of 64MP and 108MP but Honor says it will focus on increasing the size of the pixel and not the resolution.

“The pixel on the 100MP sensor is difficult to exceed 0.8 μm (Micron). Sony and we believe that a pixel size of 1μm or more can ensure the flagship sensitivity and image quality. In 2020, our company will firmly choose the route of large pixels” says Manager of Honor Marketing Division on Weibo.

Large pixel?
Compared to small pixels, large pixels captures more light, high picture quality, and less noise. On the other hand, higher camera resolution captures more details in the scene.

Honor’s 5G flagship Honor V30 and V30 Pro equips 40MP primary camera with 1μm pixel size and Quad Bayer design, which combines high resolution and a color filter pattern to produce high image quality with better lighting.

However, the official didn’t reveal any specific information regarding the camera sensor but we can expect the company to show new photographic skills with the launch of the Honor 30 series.
