Honor to invest $10 billion in AI smartphones, tablets for five years

Honor is ready to invest around $10 billion in AI-powered smartphones and tablets for over five years. The company aims to transform itself and become an AI device ecosystem company rather than just a Chinese smartphone brand.
During the MWC 2025 event, Honor announced that it would invest $10 billion in AI devices, bringing powerful tools to smartphones, tablets, and other products.
The company will initiate this strategy by launching a brand-new AI phone in the market. It will likely be designed to enhance the way users interact with their devices.
Inputs reveal that the mini step will soon turn into an AI-powered ecosystem as well as count other devices like personal computers, tablets, wearables, and more. Li Jian, the new CEO of Honor Devices and former Huawei executive, said:
“This includes the industry becoming truly open, enabling seamless collaboration across different operating systems, and building a value-sharing AI device ecosystem.”

Honor AI Strategies
The OEM has already initiated the “AI device ecosystem” efforts in China with DeepSeek integration into YOYO Assistant. Now, it plans to bring the same benefits to global device owners in the form of the HONOR ALPHA PLAN.
The company has support from partners like Alibaba Group, Tencent, and ByteDance in China to introduce new AI features for its smartphones. On the global side, it has joined hands with Google to bring Gemini AI features into its handsets.
In terms of devices, Honor is already making huge strides by seeding AI tools into its handsets. The best examples are the Magic V3 foldable and the Magic 7 Pro phone.
Apart from AI integration, the Chinese OEM aims for global expansion. It is ready to step into Indonesia. The company said to launch around 30 products in the country this year. Thus, Honor is seeking new ways to turn a profit this year.
