Honor to defeat OPPO in thinnest foldable race with 8.8mm Magic V5

Honor finally made it happen! Honor Magic V5 is ready to defeat the OPPO Find N5 in the thinnest foldable race with an 8.8mm slim design. The tech giant has shared another teaser of its upcoming folding handset, flaunting its sleek outlook.
In February 2025, Li Kun, the Product Manager of Honor Devices, said that the company will continue to remain the first brand with the thinnest and lightest foldable.
The executive uttered these words when OPPO was about to launch its Find N5 foldable with 8.9mm thin design (when folded). Looks like the company has actually defeated OPPO this time with the thinnest Honor Magic V5, measuring 8.8mm.
Honor has now shared a new Magic V5 teaser, highlighting the device as the world’s thinnest folding smartphone. The company wrote a caption that says:
“8.8mm is the thinnest in the world! #HonorMagicV5# The king of folding phones, even the strong can travel light. July 2 at 19:00, please stay tuned.”

That’s a major upgrade over the Magic V3 model, which has a thickness of 9.2mm in the folded state. Honor is eventually setting a new record for thin foldable phones.
For now, Honor Magic V5 has entered the pre-order stage. Consumers can reserve the device on JD.com for the following memory + storage options:
- 12GB + 256GB
- 16GB + 512GB
- 16GB + 1TB
Apart from the thin design, another sector where Honor can beat OPPO’s Find N5 is the battery. DigitalChatStation reveals that Magic V5 may use a 6100mAh large cell. It will likely equip the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and the AiMAGE imaging system.
Other features in the list include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for unlocking methods, a 3x optical zoom periscope, and a weight of 217 grams.
