Honor Magic 6 series launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 180MP periscope lens, and more

On January 11, Honor launched the flagship Magic 6 series for consumers. The grand launch ultimately marks the end of the long-running rumors and leaks as the new premium lineup comes with a bunch of new features. In addition, users will find top-class functionalities.

Display

Honor Magic 6

The standard version features a 6.78-inch OLED plate with 1264 x 2800 pixels resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It further supports true 1.07 billion colors, DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 10 points of multi-touch feedback, 453 PPI, and HDR display facilities.

Honor Magic 6 Pro

On the other hand, the Pro version adopts a 6.80-inch OLED screen with a 1280 x 2800 pixels resolution. Other display aspects for both models remain the same.

The highlight for both handsets is the dynamic 4320Hz PWM dimming with upgraded eye protection mode, natural light eye protection, sleep aid display, and natural color display. Another interesting segment is the giant rhino glass which has 10 times drop resistance capabilities.

Appearance: Both models bring five color schemes including Lake Blue, Cloud Purple, Qilian Snow, Wheat Wave Green, and Velvet Black. Besides, the Magic 6 bears a single-centered hole at the front side whereas, the Pro variant has a pill-shaped cutout with 3D face recognition technology.

Camera

Honor Magic 6 brings a triple-camera setup including a 50MP OVH9000 wide-angle (f/1.9 aperture, OIS) shooter, a 50MP (f/2.0 aperture) ultra-wide angle, and a 32MP (f/2.4 aperture) telephoto sensor. On the front side, there is a 50MP wide-angle lens for selfie purposes and 2D face recognition.

Talking about the Pro model, it also features a triple-lens arrangement with a 50MP wide-angle snapper, a 50MP ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 180MP (f/ 2.6 aperture) periscope lens. The front-side lens is 50MP with amazing portrait capabilities and 3D face recognition tech.

Both devices support Eagle Eye capturing technology with smart focus tracking and automatic capture functions. This tech integrates the millisecond-level capture algorithm to lock its focus on the main subject and click the delicate moment irrespective of motion and distance.

Internal Configurations:

Honor Magic 6 series launched with a 3rd-gen octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with 1 x Cortex-X4 3.3GHz + 3 x Cortex-A720 3.2GHz + 2 x Cortex-A720 3.0Ghz+ 2 x Cortex-A520 2.3Ghz CPU architecture. It further supports Adreno 750 GPU.

Both devices pre-install the Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0 with fascinating features and functionalities. Although, the Magic 6 carries a 5450mAh battery with 66W superfast charging and 50W wireless charging. Whereas, the Pro handset packs a 5600mAh battery with 80W fast charging and 66W wireless charging.

In terms of connectivity, the Honor Magic 6 series supports a 5G network, 2.4GHz and 5GHz WLAN frequencies, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, Beidou (B1I+B1C+B2a triple frequency), NFC functions, and Galileo (E1 + E5a dual-frequency).

Certain features are only available with the Magic 6 Pro. The first one is the two-way satellite calling that lets you dial emergency numbers and send or receive messages without a cellular signal. It is one of the strongest satellite technologies that has surpassed Huawei Mate 60 Pro. Other key features are:
