Honor could unveil Magic V5 foldable this year, skipping Magic V4

Honor is rumored to launch the Magic V5 foldable this year, marking a skip of the Magic V4 and directly jumping from the V3 lineup. If true, it would be a strange yet similar move like its former parent company – Huawei.
As per @FixedFocus, Honor could directly unveil the Magic V5 foldable in the market, skipping the V4 model. The reason behind this sudden leap is unclear.
The Chinese phone maker hasn’t announced any such plans for its folding devices yet. But if the leak is accurate, the latest move seems to be a replica of Mate X5.
Huawei took a similar step in September 2023 by skipping the Mate X4 and directly launching the Mate X5 (Kirin 9000s chip) foldable on the consumer platform. A major difference between Mate X3 and X5 is 5G capability.
Now, Honor may use the same strategy, skipping the 4th series from the Magic V foldable line. It will be interesting to see if this rumor turns into reality.

Early Revelations
Apart from the name change, the tipster revealed the new Magic foldable phone will feature a super thin design and some innovative capabilities over its predecessors.
Li Kun, the Product Manager of Honor Devices, recently said the firm was and will still be the first company to produce the thinnest and lightest folding phones. This statement was seemingly pointing out OPPO, which has recently launched the thinnest foldable phone in the market.
The executive further confirmed that the company will unveil its powerful book-type foldable phone by the end of May or early June 2025. The device is also exploring advanced camera and technologies to top its rival – OPPO Find N5.
