Honor Band 5 series comes with new smart features such as TruSeen continuous Heart rate tracking, SpO2 monitor, and TruSleep to track user’s daily sleeping routine.

As recently a story of an incident appeared on Weibo when a user revealed that Honor Band alerted her mother during sleep due to her heart rate jumped from 40 to 130 and saved her from a heart attack.

Following this sudden increase in heart rate, she woke up and started feeling chest tightening and shortness in breathing. She then took a quick relief pill and visited the hospital where she was admitted and diagnosed with Coronary heart disease.

Weibo User, describing the whole scenario

Honor said the company is serious about protecting users’ health, by replying in the contrast of this whole situation.

The Honor’s TrueSeen 3.0 heart rate monitoring technology uses AI-driven algorithms for high-precision reading and infrared technology, allowing users to continuously monitor their heart rate.

To activate this feature, users need to go to the Huawei Health app > Health monitoring > Continuous heart rate monitoring and select real-time or Smart mode. Then select heart rate range from high and low heart rates.

Once you have set an upper limit, your band will vibrate once if your heart rate exceeds that value for more than 10 minutes. At the same time, it will display an alert message on your screen, which will remain until your heart rate returns to the normal range, or you swipe right on the message.
