We recently reported that Huawei is testing its operating system on Mate 30 flagship and now we have the potential improvement Huawei is making in its operating System.

Huawei has recently been recruiting internal testers in China to test its software in the name of ‘new features software’ testing, as one of the testers has contacted Huaweicentral.com and revealed some of the key feature details of that software on condition of anonymity.

The tester explained that the operating system seems different from EMUI (based on Android) and due to the fact taking pictures or video of the system is highly prohibited the rest of the pieces of information can be seen below.

UI Experience and a few Changes:

Phone Activation UI: Added new awake animation and customization options.

Support for Always on Display (AOD): Custom AOD including widgets, message reminder, new lock screen (looks very good).

UI: Redesigned icons, more animation, faster and smooth transition, new notification panel with changes, the search bar is also big.

Message Reminder: New reminder mode added in the settings.

Ringtones: A different calling alert.

Camera: Interface is more concise and easy to understand, although, only a few controls added to camera compared to Huawei P30 camera app.

The tester also noted that Changes made in the functionality of this software (OS) gives a fresh feeling, as there are a few small details that have different animation effects.

Most importantly, apart from the looks of the user interface, some of the features and UI elements were missing and some were not intractable (clickable) to test, which could possibly mean that the software is still under development or the company doesn’t want to reveal all of its functionalities.

Moreover, the tester refused to comment about the testing device and there no further details added in this description.

For now, the rest of the information is enough to show that the new software is not for the EMUI, which led us to only one option and you know what we’re talking about.

It’s also being said that Huawei is planning to launch its operating system alongside Mate 30 flagship but there’s no confirmation because the company is still looking forward to coming up with Android OS instead of its self-developed OS.

Back in March, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s consumer business, accepted for the first time that the company has developed its own operating system in case Huawei is restricted from using Android or Windows.

In May, the US Commerce Department added Huawei into the trade blacklist and imposed restrictions from buying components and software from U.S. firms.

Following the blacklisting, Google also suspended its business with Huawei and canceled sharing hardware, software, and its services except for the ones with open source license.

Later on, the US eased its restriction on Huawei and provided a temporary license for 90 days to manage the business with its existing users. The US Commerce Department said it will evaluate whether to continue the exemptions beyond 90 days.

This new exemption on Huawei allows Google to send software updates to Huawei phones including monthly security patches for the above-mentioned timespan.

In the same month, Huawei filed trademark applications for “Hongmeng” at global intellectual property organizations in multiple categories including Operating System.

Yu again speculated the launch date to CNBC, that Huawei’s operating system could be ready by the fourth quarter of this year and a version for the global market in the first or the second quarter of 2020 but still there’s no date available for the OS.

On June, at the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan, U.S. President Donald Trump announced to ease trade restriction for Huawei to resume purchasing technologies from the US firms.

Huawei is looking forward for the commerce department’s approval to resume using Android and the company said if they can’t use it they’ll go with their self developed OS.
