Honda aims to use Huawei smart car solutions in China: Report

Honda is reportedly planning to join hands with Huawei for its advanced smart car solutions. The Japanese auto giant may use HarmonyOS-powered and ADS driving solutions for one of its new brands – Ye in the upcoming months.

Future Auto Daily and some other Chinese media groups stated that Honda may adopt Huawei smart car driving solutions in the time ahead. It began exploring ways to collaborate with Huawei and use its tech in its Chinese automobile models.

The first Honda car to install the Huawei smart driving solution could be the Ye brand. The Japanese firm showcased its Ye-branded GT smart car at the Beijing Auto Show 2024 as its third powerful brand in the Chinese automobile market.

Honda already runs two brands in China, e:N and Lingxi. Now the company aims to bring the third brand Ye into the country. Ye brand has three EVs so far: Ye S7, Ye P7, and Ye GT. All three are expected to go official in the first quarter of this year.

Ye Brand

Ye S7 and Ye P7 were rumored to launch in 2024. However, the company felt that the cars didn’t meet marketing needs and smart technologies. A report says:

“Due to regulations, autonomous driving is difficult to commercialize quickly. This is also one of the original intentions of the Ye brand to carry Huawei smart driving.”

Ye brand cars are expected to adopt two solutions in the future. The first one is the Honda SENSING 360+ and the second is Huawei smart driving solutions.

Regarding Huawei solutions, the Ye-brand cars may use a light field screen jointly developed by Honda and Huawei. The display tech is identical to the AR-HUD and may help in improving depth-field and long-distance experience in the vehicle.

The advantages of a light field screen are:

  • 40-inch ultra-large format
  • 3-meter long-distance imaging
  • 90PPD super retinal resolution

36Kr report says that Huawei smart driving solutions will help Honda to increase its potential in smart car intelligence on the Chinese automobile platform.
