Here’s how to fix missing media issue on WhatsApp for Android

Recently, some WhatsApp users have reported a serious issue that occurred while their media cannot be view from WhatsApp anymore and it is very complicated.

If the user tries to open a media, WhatsApp says it’s not available, but the user can still view the media from the phone gallery. This inability to view media content – photos, GIFs, videos, audio messages – in chat after updating to the latest version available.

How to fix the media bug on WhatsApp:

  • Close the WhatsApp application from the multitasking screen of your smartphone – usually with an upward swipe, but this may vary
  • With a file manager application enter the directory / user / WhatsApp / media
  • Copy the media contents into the directory under the path /user/Android/Media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media.

This process surely takes a long time and depending on the number of videos, photos, GIFs and audio messages exchanged. So, we recommend the users to do it when they do not need to use the phone like in the evening.
