HarmonyOS NEXT
HarmonyOS NEXT breaks Android-iOS duopoly in OS field, says Huawei

Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT is getting immense attention in the OS market. The company says that its new self-developed software version is a true OS in all manners. The native iteration has all the capabilities that make it on par with rivals.
Yu Chengdong – the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business recently sent his good wishes to employees via a New Year Letter. The wishful page not only carries gratitude for workers but also revises Huawei’s journey in between hardships.
Amid several highs and lows, the Huawei Chairman mentioned the entry of HarmonyOS NEXT in the Android and iOS-dominated market. The all-new self-developed operating system broke the duopoly for foreign rivals in the OS race.
The executive added that HarmonyOS NEXT is the result of ten years of hard work. While European and American counterparts took 30 years to establish fame for their OS(s), Huawei achieved the peak point in 10 years despite unlimited challenges.
Google Android and Apple iOS are the two main operating systems in the smartphone world. The former rules the Android phone lane while the latter cares for iPhone users. Both offer impressive customizations and features but lack smart capabilities.
But the case is different with HarmonyOS NEXT. Being a newly developed OS, it brings various AI features, security improvements, and smarter tools for daily use.
Huawei has not only expanded its new OS to devices but also opened it to universities, technologies, apps, meta-services, education, medical, and other fields.
“HarmonyOS NEXT which is fully self-developed from the inside out, has achieved independent control of the core technology of the operating system and is secure and reliable, breaking the bipolar structure of mobile operating systems and providing a third choice for the world.” – says Yu Chengdong.

Yu Chengdong further stated that the company shelved over 20,000 native HarmonyOS apps and meta-services on the shelves, more than 7.2 million developers joined the ecosystem, and over 1 billion devices installed the OS.
The Chairman used the “three-way division” term twice for HarmonyOS NEXT. The first-time usage reflects the native software as a ‘third choice’ for users in the phone OS market. Whereas, the second-time usage hints that it is becoming the third-largest operating system in the world.
“The tide of the times is sweeping the world, and HarmonyOS has one-third of the world. This is the responsibility and mission that history has given to our generation of people.”
