HarmonyOS NEXT 5.0.0.126 public beta brings new home screen, system features

Huawei is releasing a new HarmonyOS NEXT public beta update with the 5.0.0.126 version. The update is reaching eligible devices with a massive changelog. It brings changes to themes, home screen, system, and certain Huawei applications.

The company is busy expanding HarmonyOS NEXT to more devices. After the public beta rollout, Huawei also initiated the closed beta program for the Nova 13 series, standard Nova 12, Nova 12 Pro phones, and MatePad Pro 12.2 tablets.

Meanwhile, the flagship handsets like the Mate 70 series, Pura 70 models, Mate 60, Mate X6, Mate X5, Pocket 2, and Nova 12 Ultra are fetching new public beta builds.

As of now, Huawei has dropped the HarmonyOS NEXT 5.0.0.126 public beta for its devices with several new features. It also has a package of 1.71 Gigabytes.

New Features:

Huawei has enhanced the theme sections with more emojis for the Mood and Mood Space. It also added the Air Shooting theme for a unique theme experience.

The company brings new features to the calling sections with useful power tab shortcuts. The home screen and system support smoother dragging, a timer feature, enhanced screenshot capability for split-screen, privacy coding, and more. You can check the complete changelog below.

Theme

• Added more emojis to the Mood and Mood Space themes.
• DIY combinations are richer which will bring you more interesting experiences.
• The Air Shooting theme allows you to click on the basketball to shoot, providing you with more enjoyable and stress-relieving gameplay.

Huawei Share

• Go to Calls> Settings > Advanced and turn on the ‘Press the power button to end a call’ switch. You can press the power button twice to reject an incoming call, press the power button once to cancel an outgoing call, and press the power button once during a call to hang up.
• Added the feature of muting ringtone by pressing the power button or volume button when a call comes in.

Set-Up

• The Privacy and Security Center has added a new file safe entrance, which can easily encrypt and save pictures, audio, video, and documents.
• The startup ringtone supports manual switching (Settings > Sounds and Vibration > Startup ringtone)

Home Screen

• After pinching the home screen to enter the editing interface, you can add a blank page. Users can also long-press the home screen page and drag the entire page to change the page order.

System

• Added a timer feature to automatically switch on and off (Settings > System > Timer).
• Added the Air Gesture File Transfer feature. After enabling the feature, you can share files by grabbing and releasing them. (Path: Settings > System > Quick Launch and Gestures > Air Transfer)
• Support dragging pictures from the Super Transfer Station into the gallery to save them.
• When taking screenshots in split-screen or the floating window, it supports automatic recognition of spilt-screen and floating windows. You can choose to capture only the content in the respective scenarios.
• The screenshot feature now supports privacy coding. When the screenshot contains sensitive information, the screenshot editing interface will automatically remind you to choose ‘code-privacy’. Click it to hide the private info with one click.
• In the multitasking center, pull down the task card to lock the task and the task will not be deleted when you click the trash can icon to clean it up.
• Added support for connecting to Huawei HiCar via USB wire.
• Added a new smart text recognition switch to the memo. When it is turned on, it can smartly detect the phone number, address, date, and email address in the memo and can perform convenient operations such as dialing, navigation, creating new schedule reminders, and creating new emails. MeeTime App

• Added support for SMS folders in the message interface. Click to easily view SMS content.

File Management

• Go to Recent > the broom icon in the upper right corner to enter the large file cleanup to help you free up more space.

Calendar

• Important day cards support custom background images. You can choose your favorite photo as the card background (long press the important day card > Edit)

AI Life app

• Added a new remote access PC feature. After logging into the same Huawei account as Huawei PC, you can remotely access Huawei PC through the AI Life app.
• Added a new Smart TV remote home monitoring feature. You can connect to the Smart TV at home via the AI Life app, and check the situation at home anytime and anywhere, taking care of your home.

Huawei Reading

• When reading books, you can slide up and down and turn the pages with the volume button. You can choose from a variety of page-turning methods to enjoy immersive reading.

Browser

• Added support for adding web pages to the home screen with a one-step access capability.
