HarmonyOS can be world’s third largest PC operating system: Huawei
Huawei today attended AWE 2025 (China Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics Expo). During the event, the company’s senior official announced that he expects HarmonyOS to become the third-largest PC operating system in the world.
Richard Yu – Huawei Consumer and Smart Automotive Solution Business Chairman said that HarmonyOS can soon be the third significant contender in the Apple and Microsoft-dominated PC operating system world.
Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS are the two main computer operating systems at present. Huawei used to launch its notebooks with Windows. But due to the expiration of the Windows supply license, the company is about to abandon it.
Huawei has recently launched the MateBook D 16 Linux Edition, suggesting that the upcoming PCs won’t feature Windows OS. It has further confirmed the news by announcing the launch of HarmonyOS PC in May this year.
With the official status, HarmonyOS PC will likely become the world’s third-largest computer OS. As per previous revelations, it may adopt a MacOS-like user interface but with faster and smoother interactions.
HarmonyOS is available for smartphones in China while only for tablets, wearables, and earbuds in the global market. The company has introduced a new self-developed OS for its Chinese users that promises the best user experience in all aspects.
It is unclear if Huawei will introduce its first PC software to global markets. The company is already eyeing global expansion of native HarmonyOS apps hence, we may also see wonders related to HarmonyOS PC global launch.
