HarmonyOS 6.0 rollout timeline: Here’s when Huawei phones can get next big update

Huawei has announced the HarmonyOS 5.1 upgrade rollout timeline for its devices, and at the same time, it spilled the beans on the next big software, 6.0. A new input indicates when the company will roll out another major update to its users.

During the Pura 80 series launch event, Huawei unravled the HarmonyOS 5.1 upgrade plan. The Chairman of the company’s consumer business, Richard Yu, said that the new software version will reach top-end models starting next month.

He further shared details about the HarmonyOS 6.0 rollout timeline. As per the executive, the next major upgrade will hit the user ground in Q4 2025.

Richard Yu suggested:

Users can expect to witness the new software build between October and November this year. By that time, the OEM will complete the HarmonyOS 5.1 rollout for its eligible devices and could expand it to old flagships like the Mate 40 Pro.

After the Pura 80 launch conference, Huawei is working on the HDC 2025 event, which will take place on June 20-22. The company is expected to unveil the HarmonyOS 6.0 at the same stage, giving a slight glimpse of the new software version.

If it happens, the phone maker may follow last year’s strategy and initiate the HarmonyOS 6.0 closed or public beta rollout in October/November this year.

Devices like the Pura 80 series, Mate 70/60, Pura 70, Mate X6, and Mate X5 could appear in the first batch. Meanwhile, the company may officially debut the next major upgrade with the Mate 80 and Mate X7 flagship phones.

From there, it’ll spread out over the next month, hitting mid-range devices like the Nova handsets and previous models, thus completing the rollout by mid-2026.

It could be an accurate HarmonyOS 6.0 rollout schedule. But the company hasn’t confirmed these details yet. Rather, it only suggested that its devices may start upgrading to the 6.0 software upgrade from October or November.
