HarmonyOS 5.1 unlocks these camera, AI features for Huawei devices

HarmonyOS 5.1 is live for the Huawei Pura 80 devices, and it unlocks a set of new camera and AI features. The company will expand the new update to more models next month. Ahead of that, here’s a look at what the new build brings to the table.

Pura 80 handsets are now receiving the HarmonyOS 5.1.0.118 update with significant camera, themes, and AI features. If not all, at least some of these additions will likely make their way to more eligible devices in the form of a new update.

Looking into the details, Huawei Pura 80 devices are getting new camera and gallery features with their first HarmonyOS 5.1 update. The version with a 6.80GB package size adds new shooting modes that enhance the nightography experience.

Users can capture more beautiful moon and starry sky portraits at night using new modes. The company has improved basic shooting effects and has added a new color palette description feature to switch easily between warm and cool shades.

Further, the company has added new AI photo-editing tools like Magic Image Shift and anti-reflection. You may get new changes in the Themes and Celia AI Assistant segments. One can check the complete changelog below.

HarmonyOS 5.1 Features

Camera

• Added new shooting modes for nightography: Chasing the Moon in the Universe, Magnificent Starry Sky, and Starry Sky Portrait will bring a new shooting experience to capture the moon, the starry sky, and people under the starry sky at night, helping you record more wonderful moments.
• Added XMAGE personalized color parameter description in camera watermark.
• Optimizes basic shooting effects such as color and brightness, and improves the shooting experience in ultra-clear panorama, portrait, night mode, sunset, moon, stage, and other scenarios.
• Optimizes the effects and the use of treasure box features such as personalized color widgets and AI-assisted composition.

Gallery

• Added a new Magic Image Shift feature in the AI photo editing section.
• It will allow you to freely drag, scale, or copy the characters in the photo. You can easily adjust the relation between the characters and the background without professional cutout tools, making creative composition easy.
• Added a new AI anti-reflection feature.
• It uses AIGC generation technology to remove reflections, making the beautiful scenery shot through the window even more beautiful.

Celia Features

• Added an upgraded Celia AI assistant. The Celia main dialogue UI now has a new call button in the lower right corner that leads to Live Mode.
• Tapping on the Live Mode can let you initiate a real-time voice chat with the Celia assistant.
• Users can also click the video (camera) button to start a real-time video conversation.
• Celia can easily fetch data from the system service for weather, calendar, location, etc., to provide you with dressing suggestions, scenic spot introductions, encyclopedia Q&A, food suggestions, and other scenarios.

Themes

• Added a new “Dancing Master” theme. It can show up interactive animations and tickling sound effects. Users can add funny dancing accessories (in different colors) to the character.
• Added a new Dimension Crossing theme that lets you quickly generate comic 2D-style images by taking a selfie, turning yourself into an anime protagonist, and setting it as wallpaper and lock screen.

System

• Optimizes the overall system performance and stability.

Note: Huawei may introduce some or all of these features for its HarmonyOS 5.1 eligible devices in the next month. Though the accuracy is still doubtful on this matter.
