HarmonyOS 5.1 vehicle satellite features

HarmonyOS 5.1 is coming soon, and it will support useful in-vehicle satellite communication features. The company has spilled a few details of the new version by a mere chance. It is now expected to feature a dynamic range of capabilities.

On February 20, the Chinese tech giant held the HarmonyOS Smart Driving x MAEXTRO Brand event. It revealed some top tech-pack features of the S800 smart car during the event. At the same time, HarmonyOS 5.1 peeked through teasers.

The new software version is still in the making. Huawei hasn’t detailed the HarmonyOS 5.1 build or its features. But the MAEXTRO S800 teaser hinted that the new OS would bring extraordinary satellite communication features for users.

Inputs reveal that Huawei HarmonyOS 5.1 will support in-vehicle satellite communication features. From the term, the build will enable users to use certain enhanced satellite functions in their cars.

Often, cars support a satellite system for route guidance and navigation. But Huawei is taking satellite support for cars to the next level with “Galaxy Communication.”

MAEXTRO S800 will be the first car to feature Galay Communication. It will enable users to use in-vehicle satellite communication features. One can share these functions with phones, tablets, and other devices. The only requirement is HarmonyOS 5.1.

“For HarmonyOS 5.1 and above, the specific function interface shall be subject to actual experience.”

The new capability supports active smart network selection, dual-network, and dual-standby. It can offer users a three-network connection, weak network acceleration, and uninterrupted navigation. The tech also provides calling functionality.

Galaxy Communication can detect the absence of a signal and auto-dials a satellite phone call for rescue. It will also suggest emergency contacts that can help you in need. For instance, the Control Center will alert you to call the police yourself in case of an accident.

Another benefit is that it can initiate and complete a call through the vehicle satellite tech even if you are 30 meters away. S800 uses an ultra-wide-angle satellite communication with a 160-degree beam. This component increases the satellite connection speed by 50% and reduces the call establishment time by 20%.

All these significant features will reach Huawei users with the HarmonyOS 5.1 version.
