HarmonyOS 5.1.1 Beta 1 is live for Huawei Pura 80 series and Watch 5

Huawei has released HarmonyOS 5.1.1 Beta 1 software version for the new Pura 80 series and the Watch 5 wearable. The latest build runs on API 19 and brings a set of advanced features and improvements. It also enhances ArkUI and other segments.

Pura 80 series is the first smartphone lineup to come out of the box with HarmonyOS 5.1. It brings new camera features, themes, an upgraded Celia assistant, and more.

On the other hand, the Watch 5 is running HarmonyOS 5.1 with new watch faces, better health features, and of course HarmonyOS AI capabilities that improves daily tasks.

According to the details, HarmonyOS 5.1.1 Beta 1 is only available for the Huawei Pura 80 series and Watch 5. Developers using other handsets will not be able to experience the new features of the latest version for the time being.

HarmonyOS 5.1.1 Beta 1 introduces significant changes for ArkUI, camera kit, CANN kit, security kit, and payment kit. It adds support for enhanced verification techniques and safeguards your device’s data more efficiently.

ArkUI: Pop-up Window capabilities

• Further enrich the capabilities of pop-up windows on the Native side, including setting the order, border width, and border color of the custom pop-up window display.
• Support closing ComponentContent under OverlayManager through a side-swipe gesture.
• Supports setting the transition effects of pop-up window content and mask display.
• Supports setting whether the pop-up window gets the focus.

Other ArkUI Changes

• XComponent supports obtaining XComponent node instances on the Native side, registering the lifecycle callbacks of the Surface held by XComponent, and component event callbacks such as touch, mouse, and key.
• Added LazyVGridLayout component to implement lazy-loaded grid layout.
• Tabs supports setting the maximum number of cached subcomponents and cache mode.
• The List component supports layout starting from the end.
• Enrich the capabilities of the Swiper component on the Native side, including: creating and setting the style of digital navigation indicators, creating and setting the style of navigation arrows, etc.
• The Swiper component supports setting the dot navigation point spacing and the position of the bottom of the navigation point relative to the Swiper.
• Navigation supports obtaining the routing page information array in the current routing stack and updating the array to the specified content to achieve routing transition.
• Added onNewParam callback. When the NavDestination page in the stack is moved to the top of the stack in a single instance manner, the corresponding life cycle is triggered.
• Attributed strings and RichEditor support setting paragraph spacing.
• Support setting the desired frame rate of keyframe animation (keyframeAnimateTo).
• Supports getting the status of NumLock / CapsLock / ScrollLock when a key event occurs.
• When dragging and releasing, the application is supported to delay returning the processing result.
• Supports listening to the onActionStart event of the Pan gesture, and can obtain relevant information about the triggering Pan gesture event.
• The background image supports the NODE_BACKGROUND_IMAGE_RESIZABLE_WITH_SLICE property and can be resized when stretched.
• Window capabilities for PC / 2in1 devices. Added support for changing the parent window to which a child window belongs.
• The screen attribute adds a new display mode enumeration for the screen display content. This enumeration is passed in the screen instance.
