HarmonyOS 4.0 developer beta brings new improvements

Last week, Huawei opened HarmonyOS 4.0 developer beta access for all of the developer community. Now, we’ve got some information about the improvements that the HarmonyOS 4.0 developer beta actually brings to the table.

According to the information, HarmonyOS 4.0 developer beta phase 1 installs several new optimizations to the existing frameworks and plugins. These cover ArkTS language, Stage model, ArkUI enhanced components, and many functions of DevEco Studio bringing convenient and efficient application development.

These changes are noted only from the developer side and the company will soon release a more consumer-friendly version of this beta test. However, we have some of the details about the HarmonyOS 3.1 developer preview, which you can check below.

  • The meta-capability adds a stage development model, including stage model lifecycle management, scheduling, callback, context acquisition, authentication, etc.
  • Web services add support for document preview and basic editing functions of document-type web applications, as well as cookie management and storage management.
  • Added an interface for querying application, Ability, and ExtensionAbility-related properties in application package management.
  • The ArkUI development framework enhances the declarative Canvas/XComponent component capability, enhances the component layout capability, and the state management capability.

Huawei is continuously working to improve the HarmonyOS operating system for all of the platforms and these newest improvements made to the HarmonyOS 4.0 developer preview beta will help devs to create better and optimized applications.
