Google introduces useful calling features as Android 16 turns stable

Android 16 turned stable on June 10, and Google is now releasing a set of useful calling features with the QPR1 Beta 2 update. What these new add-ons are and how they will enhance the calling experience for Pixel phone users is worth attention!
Starting with the official Android 16, the company has unveiled the all-new software version with the Material 3 Expressive design that makes your device easy to use.
Features like Live Updates that keep you informed in real-time, grouped alerts from a single app, easy shift to hearing devices, Advanced Protection, and Enhanced productivity for tablets with custom keyboard shortcuts make the new version a perfect software companion for your smartphones.
Coming to the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2, Google is now bringing a brand-new calling interface and features to enhance user experiences. The latest changes will simplify managing ongoing calls from the status bar chip, without leaving any app.
The company has upgraded the ongoing call chip that used to appear on the status bar. You may remember a bubble showing up on the top of the screen as a call pings on your device. While it’s a useful tool, it could be irritating at some points!

Previous Update
Earlier, tapping the call bubble opens the full-screen call interface. It often becomes an interruption when you’re already working on an app. But that won’t be the case anymore!
Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 welcomes a useful change by keeping the bubble on the screen with some more handy options. Once you pick up the call, going back to the screen will retain the call bubble on the status bar.
From this bubble, users can quickly hang up the call, adjust the speaker, or mute the call accordingly. The benefit is that you can expand or shrink this chip to the corner, just like Live Updates. It also applies to Gemini Live.
