Google breaks its Android naming tradition, from Android 10 it will only use version numbers

With the launch of its latest Android version, Google has broken its naming tradition and just simply announced it as Android 10 with no extra name or word attached.

In 2009, Google introduced Android 1.6 with the name attached ‘Cupcake’, followed up by Android 1.6 Donut, 2.0 Eclair, 2.2 Froyo, 2.3 Gingerbread, 3.0 Honeycomb, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.1 Jelly Bean, 4.4 KitKat, 5.0 Lollipop, 6.0 Marshmallow, 7.0 Nougat, 8.0 Oreo, and 9.0 Pie.

According to Google, the new Android will not follow the same naming convention as its previous versions, instead, the next release of Android will simply use the version number and be called Android 10.

Google said, with this new change it wants to make Android clear, shorter, understandable and relatable to its users.

Well, we don’t have to worry about this because the next version of EMUI is just simply named EMUI 10.
