Global Huawei smartphone users reportedly employing tricks to use Google apps

A new report says that Huawei global smartphone users are quite happy nowadays as they finally have their hands on Google apps. How? Despite US sanctions, this unexpected offering has become possible due to certain third-party applications.
NikkeiAsia reports that many Huawei smartphone users can run Google apps in global markets. Several retailers in cities like Bangkok revealed new Huawei phones pre-installed with Chrome and Gmail apps. The list of devices also includes Mate X6.
One of the retailer stores staff said:
“Many Chinese tourists buy these. Google services are banned in mainland China, but they can be used if the phones are connected to a virtual private network.”
A similar situation appeared in Dubai, where a home electronics store hyped Huawei devices running with Google Maps installed. The staff said users can easily download Google applications in global Huawei phones via a third-party service – unofficially.
Hong Kong retail store clerks revealed that even if users don’t find Google apps on a new Huawei phone when they buy it, they can install them via Huawei’s app store.
Is it an official or unofficial trick?
Google apps usage on Huawei phones is only possible via unofficial tricks or third-party applications. The Chinese tech giant hasn’t achieved any legal approach to Google apps, as it has new plans (native HarmonyOS) on this matter.

Huawei phones did have access to GMS (Google Mobile Services) before the ban. The company was a normal Google partner at that time and was allowed to run full Android OS until then. Although the table flipped when the U.S. sanctioned it.
After the ban, Huawei was prohibited to use advanced foreign technologies or continue any business with American companies like Google. As a result, it was unable to pre-install Google Play services or applications on its handsets.
The situation changed in 2023 when Huawei launched the Mate 60 series. As of now, the firm aims to regain its foothold in the global smartphone market with the help of Kirin 5G power and innovative products.
Note: Huawei hasn’t announced an official return of GMS to its smartphones. The article is based on the surfaced reports. Though it is possible to run Google apps on Huawei phones using unofficial methods.
