Ex-Huawei recruit’s startup began mass production of humanoid robots

China’s Agibot which is a startup of an ex-Huawei recruit now started mass production of humanoid robots. The two-year-old business venture aims to give tough competition to its Chinese opponents in the AI field with dynamic powerful products.

Agibot is a robotics company in China. It fuses AI and robotics to create top-class leading robot products and applications. The innovative company was founded in February 2023 by an ex-Huawei recruit named Peng Zhihui.

Peng Zhihui joined Huawei in 2020 under the “Genius Youth” program and worked on AI projects. However, he left the firm in 2022 to follow his passion for robotics.

Now the ex-Huawei recruit announced that his startup Agibot began mass production of humanoid robots. The robotics start-up has launched several AI robot models for household chores and industrial work. Now it is expanding its robot production.

This will eventually increase the robotics competition in China, contributing to AI growth. The company already produced 962 commercial robots as of December 15.

China is taking every possible measure that boost AI tech development in the country. The Chongqing municipal corporation guaranteed $1.37 million in subsidies for robotics companies. Another government authority announced a 5-year scheme to enhance the robotics industry development in the country.

Huawei investing in the robotics sector

A recent report said that Huawei is also set to move in the robotics industry to strengthen its AI potential. It is investing around $413 million in Dongguan Jimu robot-making company and may soon come up with a dynamic robot product in the market.

MIIT believes that Chinese tech giants like Huawei and others are taking huge strides in the robotics field. China will likely begin mass-producing humanoid robots by 2025 and make them a significant part of economic growth by 2027.
